Got Anger?

Got Anger? How well do you manage it? Anger is a normal, healthy emotion, but when chronic, explosive anger spirals out of control, it can have serious consequences for your relationships, your health, and your state of mind. Rev. Fr. Thomas Kalam talks about Anger Management at St. Gregorios Orthodox Church as part of personal development series.

Prayer Meeting Songs

Psalm 96:1 reminds us, "Sing to the LORD a new song; Sing to the LORD, all the earth. Sing to the LORD, bless His name; Proclaim good tidings of His salvation from day to day.…". During our monthly prayer meetings, our goal is to learn atleast 2 new songs.

Souper Bowl of Caring

While Americans turn their attention to the biggest sports event of the year, Super Bowl XLVI, more than a quarter of a million young people are working to transform Super Bowl weekend into the nation’s largest celebration of giving and serving through Souper Bowl of Caring.

This year, the youth of St. Gregorios Church, Austin will participate in the souper bowl of caring initiative and will join the youth all across the country to collect canned foods for the local food bank. This will be done in parternship with the Pidi-Ari project (the monthly food drive) and will be donated to the local food bank. The canned foods can be dropped at the church till the 1st of February.

Inspiring Volunteer Perspectives +

The impact of the volunteers never stops at the few hours of work they do, their impact has no boundaries. They inspire many more, and enable the growth of tomorrow’s volunteers, making volunteerism eternal. They help people see new perspectives and encourage others to make a difference in their own unique ways by putting their faith in action and serving others.

In an effort to keep volunteerism viral, we are asking our volunteers to share their perspectives and experiences that they experienced during their volunteer work. We thank our volunteers for making a difference and sharing their inspiring experiences.

100 Bible Verses

Proverbs 7:2 reminds us, "Guard my words as your most precious possession. Write them down and also keep them deep within your heart.". One of the most effective ways to sustain your walk with God is spending more time in the Word of God. Just as we have memorized prayers, memorizing the scriptures will help us to be in His presence more than the worries of this world.

God's Word
  • Comforts you when we are sad
  • Helps you to resist temptation
  • Helps you to make wise decisions
  • Strengthens you when you go through trials
  • Helps you to know the will of God in your life
  • Helps you to witness to unbelievers

S for Sharing, S for Shoebox +

What goes in a shoe box is fun, but what comes out is eternal. It is this, what encouraged the Sunday school students to pack shoe boxes for children as part of the Operation Christmas child, a project of the Samaritan's Purse internaltional relief organization.

One more memorable year for the sunday school students as they take home the runners up trophy in the Sunday school 2013 Area 1 Competitions of the South West diocese of America that held on April 20, 2013 at St. Thomas Orthodox Church, Houston, TX. Under the leadership of Rev. Fr. Sam Mathew, Vicar and Thomas Daniel (Anil), sunday school headmaster, the talents of the students raked a total of 78 points, just 2 points short of first place.

With all glory and praise going to the Lord, this was a great accomplishment for our church.
